From an interview with British astronaut Tim Peake to an inside look at the latest developments in the defence and security industry, the FINN video team has had a busy 2023.

Here we look back at some of our video highlights from the year.

Tim Peake: ‘UK space sector continues to thrive’

British astronaut Tim Peake has been an ESA astronaut since May 2009, and was the first British ESA astronaut to visit the ISS, launching on a Soyuz rocket on 15 December 2015 with crewmates Tim Kopra and Yuri Malenchenko.

Speaking to FINN in the summer: “Space has the ability to inspire so many people and it is a growth sector, there are so many careers out there right now and also careers in the future that we don’t even know about yet.”

Paris Air Show 2023: World’s largest aerospace event an undoubted success

The return of the world’s largest aerospace event was judged to be a huge success and gave the industry an opportunity to come together after the pandemic.

Filled with orders and aircraft unveilings, FINN covered it all including with our daily show videos which attracted hundreds of thousands of views.

Apprenticeships offer alternative route into aerospace and defence sectors

We also spoke to Raytheon chief executive and managing director Jeff Lewis about the importance of apprenticeships.

“I grew up in industrial south Wales, and probably didn’t have great academic aspirations. It seemed natural to everyone in my family that I would do an apprenticeship – it wasn’t a choice I made, it just seemed to everyone that I knew that that would be the route I took,” he said.

SMEs showcase defence and security innovations at DSEI

FINN was at DSEI 2023 to see the vast number of small and medium sized businesses showcasing the latest developments for the defence and security industry.

Among them was The Ortus Group, which was demonstrating various medical solutions including a mechanical CPR device.

Sustainable Skies World Summit 2023: The war on carbon in aviation!

And we heard about the war on carbon in aviation at the Sustainable Skies World Summit.

Delegates from across the aerospace sectors were at the exhibition and conference centre at the site of the Farnborough Air Show for the spring summit, and rather fittingly the event kicked off with a low level fly-past to mark a sustainable historic moment for the Royal Air Force.Subscribe to the FINN weekly newsletter
