Middle Eastern nations are collaborating to ensure all the benefits of space exploration are realised, said Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Bahrain’s minister of transportation and telecommunication.

Speaking at the Bahrain International Airshow 2022, he said: “Space is very important, and I think the regional states have recognised that.

“They are working on programmes to make use of the huge benefit that this is bringing to society and to science, and to the economy.

“At the National Space Agency for Bahrain we’re working very closely with the neighbouring space agencies, especially in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and we have just signed a memorandum of understanding with Egypt to cooperate on space research and the exchange of experience and training.

“So we fully recognise the benefit and we’re working in collaboration with neighbouring states to make the maximum use of the space benefits.”

Expanding airshow

Commenting on the airshow, he added: “It’s always exciting to have it back after Covid-19 … and the pleasing thing is that we see the number of participants on the air show which is very promising after the pandemic.

“We have over 100 aircraft participating either on the static area or on the display. We have 220 delegates, military and civilian, and we have 186 companies participating.”
