At the CES technology show in Las Vegas this week, AEE Aviation Technology announced the introduction of the Selfly, a smartphone case with an embedded drone.

The company says the Selfly allows smartphone users to capture selfies and pictures from heights and distances not possible before.

Mike Kahn, AEE’s Chief Marketing Officer, said: “More photographs are being taken now on smartphones than ever before because the best camera is the one you can always have with you. With a touch of a button, Selfly springs to life and flies a mission to capture your selfies from high above, from tight spaces or from a distance, as never possible before.”

The detachable drone case snaps onto most all standard size 4-6-inch smartphones. It is controlled via a smartphone app and is equipped with 1080P, full high-definition video capability. However, it only has a flight time of four minutes with an approximate recharge time of 30 minutes.

Selflys are set to ship this quarter, AEE Aviation Technology says, and will cost around $130.
