Southwest Airlines will begin a daily nonstop service from Ontario International Airport (ONT) to Nashville (BNA) next June.

The service is now available to book online and will become the airline’s 12th nonstop service from ONT. Service will begin on 4 June 2024.

“Our friends at Southwest Airlines have a wonderful home at Ontario International, and we couldn’t be more pleased by their continued commitment to our airport, and the addition of new service to Nashville,” said Atif Elkadi, CEO of the Ontario International Airport. “This nonstop link to Nashville will allow visitors from Tennessee the opportunity to experience everything that Southern California and the Inland Empire have to offer, while also providing seamless connecting opportunities for travellers from our region visiting the East Coast and the Southeast.”

The ONT-BNA service comes weeks after Ontario earned the highest score among California airports in the J.D. Power 2023 North America Airport Satisfaction Study. The study rates airports on their terminal facilities, airport arrival/departure, baggage claim, security check, check-in/baggage check and food, beverage and retail offerings.

US routes

Southwest has also announced several other US route expansions. From June, the airline will begin flights from Orlando to Cancun, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and San José, Costa Rica.

It will also launch a daily nonstop service between Colorado Springs and Baltimore/Washington, and a seasonal service from Dallas and Nashville.
