Honeywell and TP Aerospace are partnering to support eye care charity Orbis International and its Flying Eye Hospital.
The companies will provide wheels and brake material to support the ongoing maintenance services of the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, a fully accredited ophthalmic teaching hospital on board a McDonnell Douglas MD-10 aircraft.
Operating room and classroom
The hospital is a state-of-the-art teaching facility complete with an operating room, classroom and pre- and post-operative room.
The five-year agreement between Honeywell, TP Aerospace and Orbis will provide significant cost savings on aircraft maintenance and downtime, the companies said. As part of the license agreement, Honeywell and TP Aerospace will provide repair, overhaul and maintenance of Honeywell’s wheels and brakes on the McDonnell Douglas MD-10 aircraft.

Additionally, Honeywell is the sole source supplier for wheels and brake material for this aircraft type, so we are thankful that they have been willing to support us.”
‘Considerable savings’

The considerable savings in their wheels and brakes maintenance cost can now be invested by Orbis in their fight against avoidable blindness.”
