FEAM Aero, a leading provider of aircraft line maintenance services in the USA, and its subsidiary, Danish MRO Northern Aerotech (NAT), have acquired SR Technics’ aircraft line maintenance business at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid.

This acquisition will establish NAT’s presence in one of the largest European airports as part of its aggressive growth plan. Along with FEAM, the acquisition will open doors to a wide-bodied competence centre, supporting line maintenance scheduled activities and AOG recovery on 330/350/380/787/777 with any engine combination.

Spanish market growth

NAT’s specialization in aircraft line maintenance and AOG support for airlines throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has led to the use of Madrid as a first step in the Spanish market growth, leading to requests for the addition of Barcelona (BCN) and approval from the local competent authority (AESA) for all airports in Spain. The establishment of the new business entity will allow NAT and FEAM to explore future opportunities with neighbouring European countries, where FEAM can provide access to hangar facilities.

Morten Schalls Jørgensen, CEO of Northern Aerotech, commented, “We consider SR Technics a world-class MRO, so to be able to follow their success at the MAD location was very attractive to us. We look forward to growing the NAT brand at MAD by offering superior line maintenance services to our current and future customer airline partners.”

The acquisition of SR Technics’ business at MAD will also create new job opportunities and enhance the company’s reputation in the aviation industry.

Swiss business

“With FEAM Aero we found the right successor to take over the line maintenance service at our single station at MAD. With the divestment we are focusing our business on the Line Maintenance Service for the Swiss airports Zurich, Geneva and Basel Mulhouse Freiburg,” said Urs Kunzelmann, General Manager, SR Technics Line Maintenance.
