The University of Twente in the Netherlands has joined Drone Logisitics Ecosystems (DLE), a platform aimed at advancing the evolving drone logistics market for urban, rural, regionally and at sea mid and last-miles deliveries.
The DLE is a free of charge, global multidisciplinary “quadruple helix” network of companies, universities, public/government, and Investors to stimulate innovations, collaboration, and standardisation in the drone logistics industry.
DLE lends expertise to sector’s start-ups
The organisation aims to bring together stakeholders in the drone logistics industry under one roof to support commercialisation and marketing of products of Drone Logistics members. Most of the companies are early-stage start-ups with limited access to funding, manpower and expertise. The DLE enables companies to lend their expertise for joint-development of products, consulting, or simply as sub-contractors, or for any other format of cross-disciplinary/border collaboration.
The university’s participation was announced by Assistant Professor Dr Yashar Hajimolana, an expert in renewable energy conversion and storage integration technologies applicable for drone logistics.
Assistant Professor Yashar Hajimolana said the “nature of collaboration between AirGo and University of Twente is to develop innovative lightweight solutions for the Drone Logistics market, using AirGo Design’s DroneBox™ as platform to install Li-battery systems, H-fuel cells and storage tanks as a power reserve to extend the range of drones.”
Drone Logistics Ecosystem members also include:
- AirGo Designs Pte Ltd of Singapore in 2013 which uses composite technologies to replace metal in heavy-duty primary/secondary aerostructures.
- Delta Aerospace which looks at the development of aerospace business in Malaysia and the wider region including seaplane distribution.
- Dragonfly Pads, a French company, which provides turn-key solutions for drone landing and maintenance through the deployment of a grid of flexible, safe, and cost-effective vertiports.
- Freespace Operations, an Australian owned and operated manufacturer, delivering industrial heavy lift multirotor drone systems to the defence & commercial sectors.
- Nordic 247, a Finnish company offering miniaturised temperature cooling systems to treat the limited/weak power of the cooling capacity.
- Sinepower Ltd, a Portugal-based power equipment manufacturer with a strong presence in the aviation sector.
- Tramigo Ltd, a Finnish company which was an early pioneer in GPS tracking and IoT connectivity.
- Valqari, a US-based company specialising in creating standardised, safe, and secure places for drones to land and drop off packages
