Members of Unite the union employed by DHL Aviation at East Midlands Airport have announced strike action.

Industrial action was called after the workers rejected a pay increase of 9.8 per cent.

Strike action is due begin on Friday 9 February and continue until Monday 19 February.

Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “DHL Aviation is a multi-million-pound company, that can fully afford to make a vastly improved offer to our members.

“Unite is entirely focussed on the jobs, pay and conditions of its members and the workers at DHL Aviation will receive the union’s unflinching support.”

The walk-out won’t only impact DHL Aviation. The logistics giant oversees several cargo fleets at the airport including Emirates, MNG Airlines, Aerologic and Formula One, the industrial action will inevitably cause severe disruption at these companies.
