Earlier this week, we reported how Dubai Airport plans to replace security booths with face-scanning virtual fish tanks. At GITEX, we got chance to hear more detail about the plans from Dubai Police’s Director of Smart Applications.

The smart tunnels will replace security lines and e-gates. They will display images, such as an aquarium, and will be equipped with about 80 cameras.

Not only that, passengers will also be able to check in via a Tesla smart car which will drop them off at the security tunnel and check in their luggage.

The car will also collect passengers’ information, including the weight of the luggage, on the way to the airport and deliver a boarding pass, all via a smartphone.

Is air travel about to get much less stressful?
