A new dedicated training centre for Nasmyth Group Academy apprentices has officially opened at Nasmyth Bulwell in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire, in the UK.

The new centre will provide the Group’s apprentices with a dedicated classroom as well as a workshop area fitted with a range of machining and tooling equipment to develop the apprentices’ skills and techniques during their training programme. All apprentices from across the Nasmyth Group of 13 precision engineering companies will have access to the new training centre.

The next generation of engineers

Peter Smith, Chairman and CEO of Nasmyth Group, commented: “At Nasmyth Group, 10% of our engineers are apprentices and I’m delighted that we are now able to provide our apprentices with an official space of their own.

“Not only do I believe that this sets us apart from our competitors, but we are establishing new standards for the development of the UK’s next generation of engineering and manufacturing professionals.”

Apprenticeships Co-ordinator at Nasmyth Group, Sean Parker, added: “The Academy was established in 2014 when we had just two apprentices working with us. Since then, the scheme has grown exponentially, with more apprentices joining us each year as word spreads to schools, colleges and the wider industry.  Our participants are gaining valuable hands-on experience across many areas of engineering and I am absolutely thrilled that they now also have this exciting space to call their own.”
