Meggitt PLC has become an industrial member of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), located in Coventry, UK.

The MTC was established as part of the UK Government’s national manufacturing strategy, with the aim of bridging the gap between academic discoveries and real time industry innovation. Its partners include major UK global manufacturers as well as three leading technical universities: Birmingham, Nottingham and Loughborough.

Meggitt designs and manufactures technology solutions for aerospace, defence and energy applications, including control, monitoring, braking and safety systems.

Shaping the future

Keith Jackson, Meggitt Chief Technology Officer, said: “Through its commitment to establishing links between university research projects and live industrial applications, the MTC has evolved into a world class centre of excellence for research and development.

He added: “It is literally shaping the future, thanks to its expertise in Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) and 3D machining technologies, allowing us to design and manufacture increasingly complex shaped components that enhance our customers’ system performance and product durability.”
