LORD Corporation, a global technology and manufacturing company, will develop and manufacture the auto-throttle module for Boeing’s 737 MAX. This is the biggest contract in the company’s 94-year history.

The cockpit control will be designed and produced at LORD Electromechanical Solutions (formerly Fly-by-Wire France) facilities in Saint-Vallier, France and in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, USA.  The development of the cockpit control systems will take place over the next few years, with production beginning in 2020.

“Monumental journey”

“We are pleased to embark on this monumental journey with Boeing,” said Ed Auslander, LORD President and CEO. “The success of Boeing’s 737 MAX, coupled with LORD’s proven history in providing solutions for mission-critical applications, represents tremendous opportunities for the future of flight.”

“Our long-term relationship with LORD is taking on a new dimension as they join a large family of suppliers that are contributing to the success of the 737 MAX,” said Jean-Marc Fron, Managing Director of Boeing France. “We are pleased with this opportunity for growth in activity of our supply base in France with a company such as LORD Electromechanical Solutions that is well-known throughout France for its know-how and expertise.”
