As the aviation industry joins together in Dubai for the Dubai Airshow, we take a look back at the Emirate’s plans to make checking in smarter

Dubai Airport is planning to replace security lines and e-gates with tunnels equipped with about 80 cameras equipped with face and iris recognition technology. The tunnels will display local scenery or aquarium scenes as passengers walk through.

Dubai also had plans to make check-in both convenient using smart vehicles, with passengers checking in via a Tesla smart car which will drop them off at the security tunnel and check in their luggage. The car will also collect passengers’ information, including the weight of the luggage, on the way to the airport and deliver a boarding pass, all via a smartphone.
