Going hand-in-hand with the Bahrain International Airshow 2022 was a diversified content programme. One of the central themes of this year’s show was space – and the progress the GCC and wider region has made in this area in recent years was clear to see.

While bringing the younger generation into the space industry remains a challenge, attendees at the event in Bahrain demonstrated that they are focussed on tackling the problem.

Harnessing the entrepreneurial spirit of many individuals and organisations operating in the MENA region was also a key focus throughout the airshow, with a wide array of panels discussing the topic.

Young pioneers

Meanwhile, the Astronaut Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship Foundation presented young pioneers with an opportunity to stay at the internationally renowned space camp in Huntsville, Alabama.

The MENA region boasts the highest percentage of STEM graduates, and with the space industry one of the fastest growing sectors in the region, the airshow proved to be another important step as the industry aims for lift-off in the years to come.
