From Tuesday next week, the world’s third-largest aviation cluster is once again home to Aircraft Interiors Expo, where visitors can experience the future of air travel today.

With hundreds of exhibitors including some of the world’s biggest aviation companies such as Airbus and Lufthansa Technik showcasing new ideas for the passenger experience of the future, Aircraft Interiors Expo offers a tantalising view of what the travel of tomorrow will look and feel like.

“Aircraft Interiors Expo offers the perfect stage for businesses from our region to show why Hamburg continues to be a global competence centre for aircraft cabins,” comments Hamburg Aviation Managing Director Ralf Gust.

“The level of innovation is extremely high, in part because our region has invested heavily in nurturing talents and technologies. We believe in connecting businesses with academia, researchers and policymakers as a crucial path toward expanding our cluster and paving the way to success for our members.”

New products and announcements

Among the key industry players bringing new products and announcements to the show is Airbus, the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft. Announced to trade press only a few days ago, the bold new Airspace Cabin Vision 2035+ envisions a future of flying that prioritises sustainability while offering superior levels of comfort. Visitors can experience the new cabin concept first-hand at its booth 5A20.

Among the innovations presented by Lufthansa Technik at Stand 6B80 are the U-Guide safety lighting system as well as a demo of its AeroSHARK external riblet film that reduces aircraft drag and saves emissions. Headquartered in Hamburg, Lufthansa Technik maintains one in five airliners worldwide.

Innovators such as Diehl Aviation, one of the industry’s leading cabin equipment manufacturers, are showcasing technologies place the customer experience in the centre.

The ECO Grey Water Reuse system saves up to 250kg fresh water per flight, translating into CO2 savings of 90 tonnes a year for a Boeing 787 in commercial service. The new sidewall panel for eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft is designed to satisfy even the highest aesthetic and safety standards.
