Northern Irish companies IPC Mouldings and Denroy Plastics Ltd have struck gold again in the latest awards by the 21st Century Supply Chains (SC21) Operational Excellence (OE) programme.

IPC Mouldings has received its third consecutive gold while Delroy Plastics celebrates its fourth accolade for supply chain excellence. SC21 is a free-of-charge programme coordinated and governed by ADS, designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence sector by raising the performance of its supply chains. The programme is endorsed by BEIS, AGP, the MoD and leading UK aerospace and defence companies.

Carrickfergus-based IPC Mouldings is a leading provider of injection moulded parts and engineered assemblies for demanding of applications, helping customers solve problems, reduce costs, and assure quality. The company is a collaborative supply chain partner in aircraft interiors providing a full-service, offering mould tool design and manufacture, CNC machining, injection moulding and final assembly.

Performance levels maintained – despite pandemic

IPC Mouldings first engaged with SC21 in October 2015 and in 2019 was reassessed in ManEx, BusEx and RelEx and received gold award level receiving further gold awards in July 2020 and now August 2021.

The company has been driven by performance, a passion for quality and investment in people, as well as diversifying their offering during COVID-19. A new Master Production Schedule is in place to coordinate all production activities and achieve optimum economic batch quantities, minimise waste and improve overall equipment effectiveness. IPC Mouldings will continue to grow and diversify their business through innovation and expertise, and will work to retain Gold Award level, further identifying improvements through potential participation in the SC21 Competitiveness and Growth Programme.

SC21 enables Denroy Plastics to successfully navigate future opportunities

Denroy Plastics Ltd received their fourth consecutive SC21 gold performance award. The company is a subsidiary of the Denroy Group which was formed in 1972 by the Rainey family following the purchase of Ulster Plastics. The group remains a family-owned business and consists of Denroy Group Ltd, DPL, Denman International Ltd and Denman Inc.

The Bangor-based company offers design and contract manufacturing, specialising in the precision plastics injection moulding industry. The company is the first aerospace company in Northern Ireland aerospace to receive its fourth consecutive gold award.

Denroy Plastics Ltd first engaged with SC21 in July 2011 and achieved Bronze level in 2012, Silver level in 2014, 2015, 2016 and Gold level in 2018, 2019, 2020 and now 2021, demonstrating continuous commitment to supply chain excellence.

Denroy Plastics Ltd improved quality, and delivery performance, reaching 100 per cent as quality 12-month rolling data and more than 99 per cent as delivery 12-month rolling score, reducing operational costs and working to increase the company’s profile. Looking to the future, Denroy Plastics Ltd will continue to reinforce its position as the provider of choice for injection moulded components and assembles to various industry and consumer sectors and strengthen its reputation and business in its export markets and seek to receive a SC21 OE gold award for the fifth consecutive year

ADS Northern Ireland Director, Leslie Orr said Northern Ireland was a leading region for supply chain excellence and congratulated both teams on their awards. She added that the retention of the awards for consecutive years was an “outstanding achievement” in current challenging trading conditions.
