SMG Consulting has made a number of predictions for the advanced air mobility (AAM) market over the next 12 months.

The firm, a collection of industry thought leaders, has published a list of five major developments they expect to happen in the course of 2023.

First, they predict that Archer, Beta Technologies, Joby Aviation and Volocopter will roll out conforming aircraft.
SMG also expects Ehang to certify the EH-216 with the Chinese regulator.

Warnings

A less positive prediction is that OEMs funding will be lower than in 2022, and that at least one OEM will run out of cash over the year.

It also warns that “most” of the seven EASA demonstrators expected to fly in 2023 will be delayed to 2024.

And finally, it suggests that the number of vertiport companies operating around the world will double.

SMG Consulting has been an active industry participant in the AAM market since 2017, when Uber introduced the Elevate white paper.

It has developed an extensive network of contacts in the industry, including all the major OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, aftermarket suppliers and Infrastructure providers.
